Account Configuration

The Configuration panel on the Account Settings screen lets you configure the following account settings:

  • Advisor Authorizations - Advisors can get specific authorization from a client to modify additional settings in the client account.

  • Account Alias - Define an alternate name for your account that is easier to remember than your Account ID.
  • Account Type - Upgrade your Cash account to a Margin account, or upgrade your Margin account to a Portfolio Margin account.
  • Paper Trading Account - Sign up for a paper trading account, which lets you trade in a simulated environment.
  • White Branding - Advisors can incorporate their own branding into software and documentation.
  • Manage Administrators - View, add, or remove Administrators to your account.
  • Money Manager Administration - Assign money managers for your clients.
  • Soft Dollar Configuration - Soft dollars are brokerage commissions that are used to purchase research products and services from vendors.
  • Soft Dollars Disbursement - View existing soft dollar disbursements to vendors with IB account numbers.
  • IBKR Pricing Plan - Modify your commission plan.
  • Manage Account Linking - Create a new linked account, link existing accounts, move your account to an Advisor-managed account, or divide your account into multiple partitions.
  • Trusted Contact Person - Add a Trusted Contact Person.
  • Securities Class Action Recovery - Enroll in Litigation Recovery Service for eligible securities.
  • Close Account - Close your account.
  • Large Trader ID - Configure your account to use your SEC Large Trader ID number(s).
  • Model Portfolio - Advisors can use Model Portfolios to easily invest some or all of a client's assets into one or multiple custom-created portfolios, rather than tediously managing individual investments in single instruments.
  • Model Marketplace - Search, download and use a collection of investment models designed by third-party vendors.

Note: Your Client Type and Legal Residence are displayed at the top of the Configuration panel.
